In celebration of Black History Month, OHC would like to recognize, thank, & celebrate a few African American individuals who impacted the safety world with their inventions & achievements.

Mr. Thomas Martin - Received the first patent for the fire extinguisher

Mr. Garrett A. Morgan - For the safety helmet that was later used as a prototype for the modern day respirator

Mr. Rodney Slater - Serving as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation & making so many improvements to bridges, railroad systems, & encouraging seat belt safety.

We honor and remember those who impacted our world today in many ways, and we encourage everyone to do the same everyday!
